INGREDIENTS:
2 heads of broccoli, trimmed into florets
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tsp kosher salt
Sesame Garlic Breadcrumbs:
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
6 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
2 tsp aleppo pepper @laboiteny
1/3 cup sesame seeds
2 cups of panko
1 lemon zested and juiced
kosher salt to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Place the broccoli on a sheet tray and cover with 3 tablespoons of olive oil and season with the 2 tsp of kosher salt. Toss to coat and place in the 500 degrees oven for 20 minutes until golden all over
Make the breadcrumbs. In a pan heat up 1/2 cup of olive oil. Add in the garlic and the aleppo and saute on low until lightly golden. Add in the sesame seeds and let toast for a couple minutes. Add in the panko and on a low heat mix and toast until lightly golden in color. Remove from heat and season well with kosher salt. Check for seasoning.
When the broccoli is ready to plate, place it in a big bowl and squeeze over the lemon. Top with the panko and finish with the lemon zest. Serve.
The panko is an extreme amount so if you are not in the mood you can definitely keep some on the side and save for another roasted veg or salad.
